HALO Maritime Defense Systems names Ambassador Michael Sheehan to its Board of Advisors

ANDOVER, MA – HALO Maritime Defense Systems today announced that Ambassador Michael Sheehan has joined its Board of Advisors. The announcement was made by Bradley Rotter, the Chairman of the Board who commented that “it is indeed a pleasure to team with West Point classmates Paul Jensen (CEO), John Shephard (Board of Directors) and now Michael Sheehan who have banded together with the executives of HALO to make an impact on maritime security around the world.”

CEO Paul Jensen remarked that “Ambassador Sheehan is uniquely qualified to advise us on the efficient delivery of our maritime security barriers to protect high value maritime assets around the globe and it will be an honor and pleasure to work closely with him on this mission critical endeavor.”

Michael A. Sheehan is the President of Lexington Security Group, an international security consultancy. Sheehan has a 30 year career of distinguished public service which began at West Point. After graduation in 1977, he served as an officer in the Infantry and Special Forces. He had numerous overseas assignments; as a commander of a counter terrorism unit in Panama, as a counter insurgency advisor in El Salvador, as an Infantry company commander in Korea, and on peacekeeping duty in Somalia and Haiti. Also while on active duty, he served in the White House on the National Security Council staff for Presidents George H.W. Bush and William Jefferson Clinton.

In 1998, he was appointed Coordinator for Counter Terrorism at the U.S. Department of State and was confirmed by the US Senate as Ambassador at Large. Following an assignment as Assistant Secretary General at the UN in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations (2001 to 2003), Sheehan served as Deputy Commissioner of Counter Terrorism for the New York City Police Department until May of 2006.

Sheehan has Masters Degrees from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He is a partner in Torch Hill Investment Partners, a private equity group in New York City. He is also a terrorism analyst for NBC News and is a fellow at the NYU Center on Law and Security and at West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center. He is the author of the book Crush the Cell: How to Defeat Terrorism Without Terrorizing Ourselves (Random House, May 2008).
